Citizen Papes began as a bedroom project in Glasgow during the pandemic. The fruits of these sessions reveal a songwriter with a knack for irresistible melodies and tracks full of warm depth. Influenced by the likes of Bon Iver, Vampire Weekend and the greats of folk music, he regularly shares his music with his 65k TikTok followers. His first EP ‘For You’, received an exclusive first play of singles ‘For You’ and ‘What Happens Next?’ from Mollie King on BBC Radio 1’s Future Pop, a live interview with Daniel Pascoe from BBC Music Introducing and a spot on Spotify’s coveted New Music Friday editorial playlist.
Citizen Papes was able to debut these songs in front of a live crowd when he supported Alioch Schnieder in Paris at the iconic La Cigale venue in March of this year. “It was definitely one of the coolest things I’ve ever been a part of,” Citizen Papes exclaimed after the performance. “It was an honor to perform in front of such a cool, respectful crowd in one of the best cities in the world.
