Simon Hulstone is Chef Proprietor at The Elephant, a bright, informal seaside restaurant overlooking the beautiful harbour in Torquay. It was awarded a Michelin star in 2005 – a first for Torquay – which it retains to this day.
Cooking professionally since his school days, Simon has become one of the UK’s most decorated chefs. A Roux Scholar, he has represented Great Britain in many international chef competitions.
He and his wife Katy have headed up The Elephant since 2003, taking full ownership in 2017. Simon’s previous experience includes roles at Cotswold House in Chipping Campden, The Mirabelle Restaurant in Eastbourne, The Swallow Royal Hotel in Bristol and the Regent Hotel in Auckland.
